Job Description

SUMMARY

The Desktop Support Technician provides technical support for computers, printers and other technology used by Horizon Global employees according to company policies and procedures, in alignment with compliance requirements, and with other IT team members. The work will be performed in Troy and Plymouth, Michigan locations and will be coordinated with other Desktop Support Technicians.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Respond to requests from staff, administrators, service providers, site personnel and outside vendors to provide technical assistance and support
  • Monitor and resolve Service Desk tickets, acting as first responder to user incidents to restore normal operations
  • Provide hardware replacement, cleaning or repair as needed
  • Access remote desktop tools to assist employees at remote sites
  • Check backup success, act on any issues and perform scheduled restores
  • Follow policies to ensure that the IT environment is maintained at all times
  • Configuration, installation and support of Horizon Global systems, as directed
  • Perform daily administration, monitoring logs and device health
  • Document and maintain Infrastructure configuration detail
  • Implements planned projects as assigned
  • Ensure that management is kept appropriately informed
  • Support telecommunication activities
  • Perform research on technical computer topics as requested
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Manages the computer hardware/software Inventory lists
  • Maintains current documentation, procedures, install docs, etc
  • Special projects as identified

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Associates degree or equivalent, and at least 3-5 years of related experience required
  • Excellent customer support skills, with experience supporting executives a plus
  • Working knowledge of iPhone, iPads, and Microsoft Surface Pro (Windows 10) a plus
  • A+ certification preferred but not required
  • Combination of education and experience to demonstrate proficiency in Windows 7 PC configuration, maintenance and troubleshooting
  • Working knowledge of switches, routers, IP addressing schemes, Active Directory (AD), Domain Naming Services (DNS), DHCP, VPN, and WAN and LAN connectivity
  • Experience with IT ticketing systems and documenting results of work completed within tickets
  • Working knowledge of interacting with IT vendors, such as internet providers
  • The ability to multi-task, set priorities and work both independently and in group settings
  • Excellent analytical thinking skills
  • Ability to be learn new concepts and technology in a fast-paced environment
  • Microsoft Office 2010-2016 Productivity suite
