Job Description

SUMMARY

The Director, Supply Chain is responsible for the development and implementation of supply chain strategy as well as carrying out the daily functions and business associated with the sourcing, purchasing, planning, logistics & customer service of our goods to both our manufacturing facilities and distribution centers.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Define and deliver the purchasing and supply chain strategy for the business in line with the company's growth plans.
  • Contribute to the formulation, execution and achievement of the annual goods plan; product plans and budget by the effective management of the purchasing team and by working closely with members of other teams, including sales, marketing, etc.
  • Develop and maintain demand plans that reflect the expected shipments of products from distribution points and reflect all promotion/event calendars.
  • Develop and maintain master plans that meet defined demand plans in a least cost fashion while achieving sales objectives.
  • Identify, select, and develop suppliers who are able to meet the company’s current and future needs.
  • Manage the supply base to ensure that any potential risks to the supply of products are identified and that contingencies are put into effect to minimize those risks.
  • Ensure the annual audit of key suppliers.
  • Support logistics colleagues in ensuring suppliers meet availability requirements. This requires the management of existing suppliers and ensuring that new suppliers have effective logistic plans in place to meet requirements.
  • Negotiate costs with suppliers that will meet budget, deliver the best financial deal, while achieving a sustainable relationship with the supplier and never compromising on quality.
  • As inventory levels dip, contact the appropriate vendor and reorder materials working within the guidelines of any pre-existing service agreement; while following any procedures prescribed, such as the creation of purchase orders, documenting financial transactions and obtaining any required approvals.
  • Responsible for overseeing day-to-day terminal and transportation operations productivity, efficiency, and profitability.
  • Reduce aggregate inventories (including inventories of materials, work in-progress, and finished goods) by meeting or exceeding inventory goals, reduce errors in production, and improve the quality of finished goods. The primary goals shall be focused around metrics to validate efficiency, adding to margins and growth of the business.
  • Stay up-to-date with market changes and changes in commodity prices that could have an impact on costs and future growth.
  • Other duties may be assigned as needed.


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Required: Bachelor’s degree and at least 8 to 15 years of experience in supply chain, transportation, inventory management, process control, with exposure to strategic partnerships or alliances with logistics providers, specifically in the automotive industry.
  • Required: 5 years of managerial experience.
  • Written and verbal communications skills including the ability to understand and carry out industry specific written and oral direction.
  • Positive, innovative approach to problem solving.
  • Presents ideas in a clear, concise, understandable, and organized manner; ability to negotiate, persuade, and modify opinion in order to reach the goals/objectives of the organization.
  • Ability to work independently as a project leader and as a team member.
  • Ability to relate well with others even while working at a distance without the benefit of personal contact.
  • Ability to work in an organized, efficient manner with a high level of accuracy, attention to detail, and follow-through.
  • Ability to travel for assignments to any destination is a key requirement of the role (Asia, Mexico & United States.)
  • Experience with Demand Solutions forecasting tool a plus
  • SIOP (Sales Inventory Operating Plan) experience is key
  • Responsible for monthly and annual Inventory and Purchasing forecasts
  • Experience with oversees supply chain is required
  • TMS (Transportation Management System) experience a plus
  • Ability to exercise judgment and discretion.
  • Must be professional at setting priorities and coping with competing demands.
  • Excellent time-management and organization skills.
