This position will provide Engineering expertise and leadership for large non- repetitive product programs, primarily focused on major programs and some maintenance. Experience with Automotive OEM Project design and launch requirements is important.


  • Engineering leadership responsibility for: design, structural requirements, material properties, analysis, testing, costs, and customer validation, familiar with manufacturing process and tolerance control required for sustainable quality
  • Proactive product leadership in coordinating product development and launch with customer and cross functional teams using APQP, DFM, DFMEA and regular communications
  • Responsible for meeting (and establishing as necessary) DVP&R requirements. Ensure testing integrity and responsible for contents of test reports.
  • Must be able to plan and track program completion, pro-actively identifying resource requirements and effectively manage people when delegating work as required.
  • Research competitive product working with marketing to recommend new product changes to existing product
  • Produce computer models of proposals using Solidworks, and apply FEA as needed
  • Prepare cost estimates for design proposals and changes
  • Do design calculations to verify design
  • Prepare drawings for design and manufacturability
  • Approve vendor products
  • Provide training and instruction for designers and drafting personnel
  • Ensure all development activities are fully documentedQUALIFICATIONS                                                    
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering Technology
  • 5 years of experience or more
  • Experience working in an Automotive environment
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to prioritize tasks
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Ability to work in a team oriented environment
  • Ability to work with a variety of personalities
  • Ability to use and understand Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
