Job Description


Under the general direction of the Vice President of Quality and in cooperation with other Horizon Global personnel , this person will be responsible for creating and the quality engineering systems including APQP, FMEA, SQC, PPAP, Control Plans, Supplier controls, inspection processes, gauge systems, corrective action process and cost of quality reporting. Manage a staff consisting of quality engineers.


  • Direct the creation and revision of quality systems including Supplier, manufacturing, distribution and customer scope.
  • Ensure conformance to quality systems as directed by the Vice President of Quality including IATF 16949 and all customer specific quality systems.
  • Manage a robust root cause correction process to focus on continuous improvement and reduction of cost of quality.
  • Ensure quality processes such as control plans, APQP, Corrective action and cost of quality are managed for improvement.
  • Manage Sourcing projects as assigned, responsible for on-time & within budget launches.
  • Assist in the implementation and maintenance of a robust Supplier Quality System in accordance with our Quality System requirements (ISO/QS, etc.)
  • Ensure conformance and coordinate the PPAP/APQP requirements for each project.
  • Ensure compliance with all supplier capability, PFMEA reviews, etc.
  • Conduct occasional quality training at facilities to meet quality expectations.
  • Support manufacturing facilities with quality tools and support
  • Review/Audit corrective actions for completeness and implementation.
  • Continuous improvement activities for product/process quality.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


  • Full and complete understanding of applicable quality systems including PPAP, APQP, SQC, Control Plans, FMEA, Gaga R&R, control plans and inspection procedures.
  • Ability to implement the appropriate quality system tools based on market, business and customer needs.
  • In depth understanding of all aspects of a robust quality system
  • In depth understanding of all applicable quality system standards such as IATF 16949, Ford Q1 etc.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Business or Engineering or other applicable major with several years of sourcing/quality experience and with multiple years of managerial experience.
  • Requires superior communications, computer and organizational skills and the ability to work effectively with high level leaders in our and other organizations.
  • Must understand corporate and SBU sourcing goals and objectives and can meet those sourcing expectations in a timely fashion.
  • Travel and the ability to work the hours that match our global suppliers are essential.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business/Engineering or other appropriate discipline with multiple years of quality, manufacturing or engineering experience.
  • Several years of managerial experience preferably in a sourcing or quality role with exposure to sourcing in Asia, Mexico, Europe, etc.
  • Outstanding communications, organizational, and leadership skills.
  • Excellent presentation skills with the ability to “think on your feet” and respond to unrehearsed Q & A.
  • The ability to work well with all levels of team members on sourcing issues.
  • Functional expertise to ensure that guidance offered is accurate and consistent for corporate, divisional and staff management.
